Murray Horton has been an activist for more than sixty years, in Aotearoa, Australia, and the Philippines. At one time an Editor of the University of Canterbury magazine Canta, and then active in the former National Union of Railwaymen, Murray has also been involved with the likes of the Christchurch Progressive Youth Movement, the Philippines Solidarity Network of Aotearoa, and the Society for Publicly Owned Telecommunications. Never a member of any political party, Murray has been the paid Organiser for the Campaign Against Foreign Control of Aotearoa and the Anti-Bases Campaign since 1991. He is also the Convenor of Keep Our Assets. In this talk, Murray will share various anecdotes and lessons, of interest to those just starting out on, those muddling through, and those looking back on their journeys as activists.
